Business
RTX Corporation, an aerospace and defense company, provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military, and government customers worldwide. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, the company originated from the 1922 founding of its Raytheon predecessor and operates through three principal segments: Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon. Collins Aerospace offers aerostructures, avionics, interiors, mission systems, power and control systems, oxygen systems, galley systems, lavatory systems, simulation and training solutions, and aftermarket services including spare parts, repairs, and fleet management for civil, regional, business, military aviation, and space operations; Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures, and services aircraft engines, auxiliary power units for commercial, military, business jet, and general aviation customers; Raytheon delivers guided missiles, air defense systems, cybersecurity solutions, satellites, drones, threat detection, tracking, mitigation capabilities, command, control, communications, intelligence systems, loitering munitions, and sensors. RTX conducts business globally across the United States, Europe, and other international markets, employing approximately 186,000 people and generating substantial revenue from U.S. government contracts. Recent developments include a July 2025 partnership with Shield AI to integrate autonomous Hivemind software into RTX defense products such as loitering munitions and sensors for enhanced networked collaborative autonomy; a November 2025 memorandum of understanding with Avio to establish a new U.S.-based solid rocket motor facility strengthening supply chain capabilities; the October 2025 divestiture of its Simmonds Precision Products business to TransDigm for $765 million; ongoing investments exceeding $600 million in manufacturing expansions, including a $300 million facility upgrade in Huntsville, Alabama; and strong Q3 2025 financial results with 12% sales growth to $22.5 billion, 13% organic growth, raised full-year guidance, and a $251 billion backlog. Christopher T. Calio serves as chairman and CEO.
