Business
Service Corporation International delivers comprehensive deathcare provisions and amenities throughout the United States and Canada. Its operations are structured into two principal areas: Funeral Services and Cemetery Operations. The company's vast network encompasses funeral service establishments, cemeteries, and integrated funeral service/cemetery locations, along with crematories and associated businesses. Within its funeral service segment, the company offers a broad array of professional support for funerals and cremations. This includes facilitating the use of funeral facilities and transportation, organizing and directing services, providing removal and preparation, embalming, cremation, memorialization, and travel protection, as well as offering catering. Additionally, it supplies a wide range of funeral merchandise, such as burial caskets, related accessories, urns and other cremation receptacles, outer burial containers, floral arrangements, digital and video tributes, stationery, and various memorialization items. For its cemetery operations, the company provides interment rights for cemetery property, which includes developed plots, lawn crypts, mausoleum spaces, niches, and other options for cremation memorialization and interment. It also sells cemetery merchandise and related services, featuring memorial markers and bases, outer burial containers, flowers and their placement, graveside services, merchandise installation, and interment services. A significant portion of its revenue is generated through both immediate (at-need) and advance planning (pre-need) for funeral and cemetery services. Service Corporation International markets its offerings under a diverse portfolio of brands, including Dignity Memorial, Dignity Planning, National Cremation Society, Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, Funeraria del Angel, Making Everlasting Memories, Neptune Society, and Trident Society, among others. As of December 31, 2024, the company owned and operated 1,493 funeral service locations and 496 cemeteries, of which 308 were combination locations, spanning 44 states, eight Canadian provinces, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Founded in 1962, the company maintains its headquarters in Houston, Texas. Recent strategic initiatives include a continued focus on acquisitions, investments in real estate for expansion, and enhancing customer experience, including through digital transformations and premium cremation options, to meet evolving consumer preferences.
