Business
Select Medical Holdings Corporation offers a diverse range of specialized healthcare services across the United States through its distinct operating divisions. Its Critical Illness Recovery Hospital segment manages facilities dedicated to patients with profound medical complexities, addressing conditions such as severe respiratory distress, cardiac issues, complicated infections, prolonged recovery post-surgery, kidney disease, neurological events, and various forms of trauma. The company’s Rehabilitation Hospital segment delivers intensive therapeutic and recovery programs, catering to individuals with conditions like brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, limb amputations, neurological disorders, orthopedic rehabilitation needs, and specialized care for pediatric or cancer patients. Furthermore, the Outpatient Rehabilitation segment comprises clinics that provide comprehensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. This includes tailored programs for work-related injuries, hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, post-concussion care, pediatric and cancer recovery, and athletic training. In a significant strategic move, Select Medical completed the spin-off of Concentra Group Holdings Parent, Inc., in November 2024, ceasing its ownership in that entity. As of September 30, 2025, Select Medical operated 105 critical illness recovery hospitals across 29 states, 36 rehabilitation hospitals in 14 states, and 1,922 outpatient rehabilitation clinics spanning 39 states and the District of Columbia. Select Medical Holdings Corporation, established in 1996, maintains its corporate headquarters in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
