- Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) is a global technology, defence and engineering group headquartered in Singapore with origins tracing back to 1967 and listing on the Singapore Exchange in 1997. The company operates across aerospace, smart city, digital solutions, defence and public security segments through a network of subsidiaries and associated companies in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S., serving customers in more than 100 countries; its Asia operations account for nearly 60% of revenue. ST Engineering employs about 27,000 people, including over 19,000 engineering and technical talents, and focuses on delivering aviation lifecycle solutions, urban mobility and security systems, defence platforms, and satellite communications.
In its Commercial Aerospace division, ST Engineering provides airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services as the world's largest third-party provider with capacity for up to 45 widebody, 25 narrowbody and 25 general aviation aircraft simultaneously; original equipment manufacturing including engine nacelles and composite panels; passenger-to-freighter conversions using Airbus OEM data; aircraft and engine leasing; and avionics upgrades. The Smart City and Urban Solutions businesses offer rail and road systems, autonomous and electric vehicles, mobility payment systems, building access and security, IoT for lighting, water and energy management, tolling and congestion pricing solutions, and AI-powered smart city platforms such as the Agil operating system deployed in Lusail City, Qatar. Defence and Public Security segments deliver integrated technologies across digital systems and cyber, land systems including armoured vehicles and soldier systems, marine shipbuilding and repair, military aircraft MRO, ammunition, naval vessels, public security for critical infrastructure and homeland security, and satellite communications equipment; notable products include the SAR 21 assault rifle, Ultimax 100 machine gun, 40mm grenade launchers, Terrex 8x8 armoured personnel carrier, and next-generation 8x8 amphibious vehicles.
Recent developments include the divestment of its 49% stake in Shanghai Technologies Aerospace Company (STARCO), a joint venture with China Eastern Airlines, for RMB680.5 million in November 2025 to focus on independent growth plans following a 2024 extension. In December 2024, ST Engineering signed a strategic agreement with Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering to establish in-country production of a new 8x8 amphibious multi-purpose armoured vehicle, marking entry into Central Asia. The company secured approximately $4.7 billion in new contracts during the second quarter of 2025, opened a new MRO facility in Singapore in September 2025 to boost aerospace capacity, and continues brand harmonization with operations reorganized into Commercial and Defence & Public Security clusters since 2021.
