Silex Systems Limited develops and commercializes laser-based isotope separation technology, primarily through its proprietary SILEX platform, for applications in uranium enrichment, quantum silicon production, and medical isotope production; it licenses the technology to Global Laser Enrichment LLC (GLE), a majority-owned joint venture with Cameco Corporation (51%/49%), and sells cREO semiconductor technology via subsidiary Translucent Inc. The company operates in three segments: Silex Systems (Sydney, Australia), Silex USA and Translucent (North Carolina, USA), serving nuclear power utilities, quantum computing developers, and medical isotope producers across Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Founded in 1987 and headquartered at Lucas Heights Science and Technology Centre in New South Wales, Australia, Silex focuses on high-value isotope enrichment markets amid growing global nuclear demand and quantum technology advancements. Recent developments include GLE achieving Technology Readiness Level 6 validation for SILEX uranium enrichment in October 2025 following large-scale pilot testing at its Wilmington facility, enabling progress toward commercial deployment at the planned Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility in Kentucky; completion of a A$130 million institutional placement and A$19.4 million Share Purchase Plan in August-September 2025 to fund commercialization through FY2028; and advancement of its Quantum Silicon (Q-Si) production module at Lucas Heights since August 2023, targeting up to 20kg annual output of silicon-28 for silicon quantum computing in partnership with Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd and UNSW Sydney, which earned a Best Industry Research Collaboration award in 2025.
