Core products encompass Smart Apartments for keyless access, leak detection, and energy management in units; Access Control for community-wide entry management without physical keys; Community WiFi for high-speed connectivity; Self-Guided Tours for automated leasing; Work Management (formerly SightPlan) for maintenance workflows, task assignment, and inventory tracking; Answer Automation for AI-driven call handling and resident communications; Package Management for efficient delivery rooms; Parking Management for space monetization and violation alerts; Resident App for service requests, automations, and access codes; Inspection Management for unit assessments; and Audit Management for compliance and file reviews. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, SmartRent operates primarily in the United States with international reach, serving 15 of the top 20 multifamily owners and operators and connecting over 3.5 million devices across more than 848,000 rental homes powered by its smart communities solutions and 1.3 million homes using smart operations tools. Recent developments include the launch of a $10 million investment program in December 2024 to enhance Smart Operations with AI workflows, preventive maintenance, centralized property management, enhanced dashboards, and task calendar views; completion of a $30 million cost reduction program in 2025 targeting cash flow neutrality by year-end; addition of an AI-powered intelligence layer (SMRT IQ) across the platform in June 2025 for streamlined data access, property insights, and energy optimization to support ESG goals; and rebranding of SightPlan to Smart Operations with ongoing feature improvements.
