Sims Limited (ASX: SGM; OTC: SMUPF), founded in 1917 and headquartered in Mascot, Australia, is a global leader in metals recycling and circular solutions for technology; the company buys, processes and sells ferrous and non-ferrous recycled metals including iron, steel, aluminum, copper, lead, zinc and nickel-bearing materials; it provides IT asset disposition services, e-waste recycling, data center decommissioning, cloud infrastructure reuse, data destruction and electronics repurposing through Sims Lifecycle Services; operations span North America Metals, Australia/New Zealand Metals, Global Trading, a 50% investment in SA Recycling and Sims Lifecycle Services, with more than 155 facilities across 13 countries including Australia, the United States, China, India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Turkey. Sims employs over 4,100 people and supports decarbonization by supplying recycled materials to steelmakers and technology firms. In fiscal year 2025, ended June 30, the company completed eight core acquisitions contributing additional volumes, including by SA Recycling which expanded in key U.S. growth regions and increased its EBIT contribution by 17%; it enhanced North American operations with shredder investments, railcar fleet expansion and non-ferrous recovery upgrades; Sims Lifecycle Services scaled capacity on the U.S. Midwest and West Coast to meet hyperscaler demand while ceasing commercialization of plasma gasification technology; the company recorded a loss allowance on its UK metals divestiture to Unimetals, agreed in August 2024 for 195 million pounds but facing buyer funding issues and potential liquidation as of late 2025, with payments deferred into fiscal 2026.
