Stericycle serves hospitals, blood banks, pharmaceutical manufacturers, physician practices, dental clinics, veterinary hospitals, funeral homes, long-term care facilities, medical device manufacturers, retailers, government organizations, educational institutes, and small businesses across North America, Europe including the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Bannockburn, Illinois, Stericycle completed its acquisition by WM (formerly Waste Management, Inc.) in November 2024 for $7.2 billion, becoming a wholly owned subsidiary that leverages WM's logistics, technology optimization, and disposal network to pursue over $125 million in annual synergies and enhanced growth in medical waste and secure destruction services.
