Business
SSAB AB (publ) (SSABAA:FH; SSAB-B:SS; SSAAY:OTCPK) manufactures and markets high-strength steels and specialty steel products for demanding applications including heavy transport, construction machinery, automotive, energy, infrastructure, material handling, protection, and tooling; its core offerings encompass quenched and tempered steels, advanced high-strength steels, wear-resistant steels, structural steels, and coated steels marketed under brands such as Strenx, Hardox, Docol, GreenCoat, Toolox, Armox, Duroxite, SSAB Boron, SSAB Domex, SSAB Form, SSAB Laser, SSAB Weathering, SSAB Multisteel, and COR-TEN; through segments SSAB Special Steels, SSAB Europe, SSAB Americas, Tibnor (steel and non-ferrous metals distribution in Nordics and Baltics), and Ruukki Construction (energy-efficient building solutions), SSAB produces strip products, heavy plates, tubular products, galvanized steels, and organic-coated sheets via production sites in Sweden, Finland, the United States, and other European countries. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, SSAB operates globally with approximately 14,500 employees across over 50 countries and reported revenue of SEK 103 billion in 2024. In 2025, SSAB advanced its fossil-free steel transformation with a EUR 4.5 billion investment in a new electrified mini-mill in Luleå, Sweden, featuring two electric arc furnaces, secondary metallurgy, integrated hot and cold rolling, galvanizing, and annealing for 2.5 million tonnes annual capacity of premium high-strength steels; the company secured EUR 2.3 billion in green financing including inaugural green bonds and loans, received funding from The Industrial Leap for electrification, signed an Early Service Agreement with SMS group for a cold rolling complex, and earlier divested its rock bolt facility to Jennmar to focus on core operations, positioning SSAB Europe for lower costs, shorter lead times, and near-elimination of Luleå's CO2 emissions representing 7% of Sweden's total.
