Business
Arjo AB (publ) is a global medical technology company specializing in medical devices and solutions that enhance the quality of care for people affected by reduced mobility and age-related health challenges. The company offers a comprehensive range of products including patient handling and transfer equipment such as ergonomic patient lifts and standing aids; medical beds and support surfaces designed for pressure injury prevention; hygiene and disinfection systems to facilitate efficient care and infection control; vascular therapy devices focused on deep vein thrombosis prevention; and diagnostic systems including fetal and vascular monitoring. Arjo's solutions serve acute care, post-acute care, long-term care, and rehabilitation sectors primarily addressing needs in hospitals, nursing homes, and retirement facilities. Founded in 1957 by Arne Johansson, the company is headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, and operates in more than 100 countries with significant production sites in the Dominican Republic, Canada, China, Poland, and the United Kingdom. Recent major changes include strategic expansions through acquisitions in Europe, notably the acquisitions in 2024 of the French diagnostics distributor Tech Med and the German rental company GerroMed, which specializes in pressure injury prevention. These acquisitions strengthen Arjo's market positions in diagnostics and rental solutions in Germany and France, aiming for positive synergies from 2025 onwards. Additionally, in early 2025, Arjo launched the new bathing system Symbliss globally, further broadening its hygiene and infection control offerings. Leadership changes occurred with Niclas Sjöswärd appointed interim President & CEO following the departure of Joacim Lindoff, with Christofer Carlsson named interim CFO. Arjo continues to focus on growth and profitability improvements, particularly in key markets such as the US and UK, underpinning its commitment to innovation in healthcare mobility and patient care solutions. The company maintains a workforce of approximately 6,500 employees worldwide and reported net sales of about SEK 11 billion in 2023, positioning itself as a leading partner in healthcare environments by empowering movement and enhancing patient outcomes.
