Business
Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (SVNDY) operates as a pure holding company overseeing a global retail group centered on convenience stores; it manages subsidiaries engaged in convenience store operations under the 7-Eleven brand, financial services through Seven Bank, and select specialty retail and food services following recent restructuring. The company offers core products and services including everyday convenience items such as prepared foods, beverages, snacks, and household essentials at over 56,000 7-Eleven stores worldwide; banking and ATM services via Seven Bank, Ltd.; and limited remaining operations in quick-service restaurants and specialty stores post-divestitures. It serves individual consumers seeking on-the-go retail solutions, with a strong emphasis on Japan, North America, China, and area licensees in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Founded on September 1, 2005, through the integration of Ito-Yokado, Seven-Eleven Japan, and Denny's Japan, Seven & i Holdings maintains its headquarters at 8-8 Nibancho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan. In recent developments, the company completed the sale of its supermarket and specialty retail subsidiary York Holdings—including Ito-Yokado, York-Benimaru, and Seven & i Food Systems—to Bain Capital for over $5.5 billion in September 2025, enabling a sharper focus on convenience store transformation; it plans to list its North American 7-Eleven subsidiary by the second half of 2026, repurchase approximately 2 trillion yen in shares by fiscal 2030, and open 1,000 new stores in Japan and 1,300 in North America by 2030. Under President Stephen Hayes Dacus, Seven & i Holdings advances omni-channel strategies and sustainability initiatives across its approximately 84,000 employees.
