- The National Company for Glass Industries SJSC (ZOUJAJ; ticker: 2150.SR) manufactures and sells returnable and non-returnable glass bottles, containers, jars, and float glass for the food, beverage, and packaging industries. The company offers generic glass packaging, plain bottles, wide-mouthed jars in various shapes, sizes, and colors including flint and green varieties, as well as custom products; it also operates sand and gravel mines with crushers to supply raw materials and produces requirements for the glass industry including gases. ZOUJAJ maintains two principal factories in Riyadh and Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with an annual production capacity exceeding 135,000 metric tons of glass containers, serving local producers and major international brands.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Riyadh's Second Industrial City, the company focuses on sustainable glass manufacturing, recycling, and reuse, positioning glass as an environmentally superior packaging material. ZOUJAJ holds stakes in subsidiaries and affiliates such as Guardian International Glass Company, Saudi International Glass Company, Guardian International Float Glass Company (in Jubail), and Saudi National Lamps & Electrical Company, including a joint venture with Guardian Glass (USA) branded as Guardian ZOUJAJ International Float Glass Company LLC in Ras al-Khaimah, UAE. Operations remain centered in Saudi Arabia, with investments extending to the flat glass and related sectors.
In recent developments, ZOUJAJ announced in April 2024 the addition of a sixth production line for glass containers at a cost of SAR 48.6 million, boosting annual capacity by nearly 25,000 tonnes and slated for completion by December 2024. Its affiliate, Saudi Guardian International Float Glass Company (Gulf Guard), approved in August 2024 a SAR 806.2 million ($215 million) project for a new float and insulating glass factory in Jubail Industrial City with 750 tonnes per day capacity. The company extended a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabian Glass Co. (SAGCO) in November 2024 for six months until May 2025 to explore potential acquisition or merger opportunities, following an initial 12-month MoU signed in November 2023.
