The Mediterranean and Gulf Cooperative Insurance and Reinsurance Company (MedGulf) provides medical, motor, and other general insurance products and reinsurance services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company offers group and individual health insurance covering medical consultations, medications, laboratory tests, hospital admissions, and surgeries; motor insurance including third-party liability and comprehensive coverage for bodily injuries and financial compensation; property all risks insurance; personal accident insurance; travel insurance; aviation insurance; marine insurance for cargo and hulls; engineering and professional project insurance encompassing employer liability and professional liability; money insurance against theft and damage; fidelity guarantee policies; and specialized policies for banks and financial institutions. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Riyadh, MedGulf operates primarily in Saudi Arabia with a focus on general insurance, health insurance, and protection and savings segments for individuals, small and medium enterprises, and corporate clients.
In July 2025, MedGulf signed a binding merger agreement with Buruj Cooperative Insurance Company, under which Buruj will be fully absorbed into MedGulf with the issuance of 33.2 million new shares, increasing MedGulf's capital by 31.58% to SAR 1.381 billion; the transaction received regulatory approval from the General Authority for Competition in January 2025 and awaits shareholder approval. This merger enhances MedGulf's underwriting capacity, operational synergies, and market reach in key sectors including healthcare, transport, real estate, and SMEs, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 goals for insurance sector consolidation. MedGulf listed on the Saudi Exchange in 2007 and continues to expand its product offerings amid ongoing industry reforms.
