Tata Steel Limited (TATLY), founded in 1907 and headquartered in Mumbai, India, operates as one of the world's largest and most geographically diversified steel producers with an annual crude steel capacity exceeding 35 million tonnes per annum across operations in over 26 countries including India, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Thailand, and others. The company, a flagship of the Tata Group, maintains fully integrated operations from mining to finished products, serving sectors such as automotive, construction, engineering, consumer goods, energy and power, packaging, and infrastructure through an extensive portfolio that includes hot-rolled coils and sheets; cold-rolled coils and sheets; galvanized plain and coated steels; rebars and wire rods under brands like Tata Tiscon and Tata Shaktee; tubes and pipes; bearings; long products; ferro-alloys; agricultural equipment via Agrico; and downstream offerings like industrial by-products, wires, and Tata Growth Shop fabrication services. In India, products are segmented into automotive and special products, industrial products and exports, branded retail solutions, and services; while European facilities produce high-quality strip steels for construction, automotive, packaging, and engineering markets. Recent developments include the board approval in November 2025 to acquire the remaining 50% stake in joint venture Tata BlueScope Steel Private Limited for up to Rs 1,100 crore, positioning it as a wholly owned subsidiary to bolster coated steel and building solutions; a planned 7-7.5 million tonne brownfield capacity expansion across Indian sites like Kalinganagar, Neelachal, Ludhiana, and Gamharia; the acquisition of Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited to enhance long products capabilities; and a strategic alliance with TEXMiN to advance mining operations, alongside ongoing ramp-ups at Kalinganagar to 8 million tonnes per annum and cost transformation initiatives yielding over Rs 2,500 crore in quarterly savings.
