Business
Tsakos Energy Navigation Limited provides international seaborne transportation services for crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas worldwide; its fleet aggregates approximately 10.9 million deadweight tons across VLCCs, suezmaxes including ice-class and DP2 shuttle tankers, aframaxes including LNG-powered and ice-class variants, LR2 product tankers, panamaxes, handysizes and LNG carriers, offering services to national oil companies, majors, independent producers and refiners under long-, medium- and short-term time charters and spot voyages. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Athens, Greece, the company operates a diversified modern tanker fleet emphasizing eco-designs such as dual-fuel LNG, scrubber-fitted, X-DF and ice-class vessels with an average age of around 10 years. Recent initiatives include the 2024 acquisition of five high-spec eco-friendly vessels from Viken Crude AS comprising two LNG dual-fuel LR2 aframaxes, one super-eco suezmax and two ice-class scrubber aframaxes on long-term charters generating over $100 million in minimum revenues; delivery of six environmentally advanced vessels in 2024 including DP2 shuttles Athens 04 and Paris 24 and dual-fuel product tankers; sales of 17 older vessels since 2023 averaging 18 years old; and an ongoing newbuilding program for over 20 units through 2028 such as nine additional shuttles, three VLCCs, MRs and panamaxes, alongside securing $3.7 billion in contracted revenues and exploring a shuttle/LNG spin-off.
