TOPPAN Holdings Inc. (TONPF) develops and provides integrated solutions leveraging advanced printing technologies across information & communication, living & industry, and electronics segments; core offerings include securities and cards such as investment certificates, passbooks, IC cards, and lottery tickets; commercial and publications printing encompassing posters, catalogs, magazines, books, and electronic publications; business forms with RFID and NFC solutions; packaging solutions featuring flexible packaging materials, paper containers, plastic molded products, inks, transparent barrier films, and thermoformed packaging; décor materials like decorative sheets and wallpapers; and electronics components including liquid crystal color filters, anti-reflection films, photomasks for semiconductors, and semiconductor package substrates. The company operates globally with subsidiaries and affiliates in Japan, Asia, North and South America, Europe, and other regions, serving diverse markets from consumer goods packaging to high-tech semiconductor manufacturing. Founded in 1900 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, TOPPAN Holdings maintains a network of over 50,000 employees across its operations. In late 2024, the company agreed to acquire Sonoco Products Company's Thermoformed & Flexible Packaging business for approximately $1.8 billion, a transaction completed in 2025 that bolsters its sustainable packaging capabilities and expands its North and South American footprint with added manufacturing plants and patents. Additional recent developments include a March 2025 agreement to acquire 80% of Italian BOPP film manufacturer Irplast for enhanced flexible packaging materials; a July 2025 strategic alliance with MD Anderson Cancer Center to co-develop organoid technology for cancer treatment evaluation; and a November 2025 launch of hybrid line manufacturing for BOPP and BOPE films aimed at sustainable packaging innovation.
