The Fibers & Textiles segment provides a wide array of products, including filament yarns, staple fibers, and spun yarns made from nylon, polyester, and acrylics, alongside woven and knitted fabrics, non-woven materials, ultra-fine fibers, and finished apparel. These materials serve applications ranging from clothing to industrial uses. Within Performance Chemicals, Toray develops and supplies advanced resins such as nylon, ABS, PBT, and PPS, molded products, polyolefin foams, various films like polyester, polyethylene, and polypropylene, along with specialty processed films, fine chemicals, electronic, and information materials. These are vital for sectors including automotive, telecommunications, and electronics. Notably, its chemically recycled PBT has been incorporated into recent smartphone models. A global leader in carbon fiber, the Carbon Fiber Composite Materials division offers an extensive range of carbon fibers, composite materials, and molded products, extensively utilized in aerospace, automotive, general industrial, and sports applications. Recent collaborations include a partnership with Hyundai Motor Group to develop composite solutions for future mobility, and an initiative to repurpose carbon fiber prepreg waste with Elevated Materials to enhance sustainability. The company is also advancing recycling technologies for carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP). The Environment & Engineering operations focus on critical infrastructure, delivering water treatment membranes and associated equipment, comprehensive engineering services, industrial machinery, IT-related systems, and construction materials for housing and civil engineering. This includes innovative high-durability reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for efficient wastewater reuse. Furthermore, the Life Science segment is dedicated to developing pharmaceuticals and medical devices, recently launching an in vitro diagnostics kit in Japan designed to assist in the early detection of pancreatic cancer. Toray's enduring corporate philosophy centers on contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies, and products.
