Business
Tullow Oil plc Tullow Oil plc is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company focused on responsible hydrocarbon development primarily in Africa. The company produces and sells oil and gas from its core West African assets, including the operated Jubilee and TEN fields offshore Ghana, and non-operated interests in Gabon and Côte d'Ivoire; it invests in development, exploration, and appraisal drilling around existing fields to maintain and grow production; and pursues opportunities to monetize undeveloped resources while divesting non-core assets. Tullow Oil plc maintains exploration licenses across Africa, targets international and domestic markets for its output, and operates with a strategy emphasizing operational excellence, capital efficiency, and business growth. Founded in 1985 and headquartered in London, United Kingdom, the company employs 397 people and supports offices in Ghana, Kenya, and Gabon. Recent developments include the completion of the sale of its entire Gabon portfolio to Gabon Oil Company in 2025 for US$307 million to reduce net debt; the sale of its Kenya assets to Gulf Energy Ltd in September 2025 for a minimum of US$120 million, marking its exit from the country after 14 years while retaining royalties and a back-in right; a memorandum of understanding in Ghana to extend Jubilee and TEN production licenses to 2040; and the appointment of Ian Perks as chief executive officer in September 2025.
