Business
Village Farms International, Inc. (VFF) operates as a vertically integrated controlled environment agriculture company that produces, markets, and distributes greenhouse-grown fresh produce including tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, and mini-cukes primarily to grocery retailers and food service companies in the United States and Canada; supplies cannabis products such as dried flower, pre-rolls, vapes, and edibles through its subsidiary Pure Sunfarms to licensed providers, provincial governments, and recreational consumers in Canada and select international medical markets; develops and sells cannabinoid-based health and wellness products encompassing ingestibles, edibles, and topicals via Balanced Health Botanicals in the United States; and generates electricity and thermal heat through its energy segment in British Columbia. The company, founded in 1989 and headquartered in Delta, British Columbia, Canada, also holds a 70% stake in Québec-based Rose LifeScience for cannabis product commercialization and targets expansion into high-THC cannabis markets in the United States and nascent legal opportunities in Asia-Pacific and Europe, leveraging over 5.5 million square feet of greenhouse facilities including in West Texas. In recent developments, Village Farms privatizes one-third of its produce assets through a new Vanguard joint venture partnership with private investors including Sweat Equities, involving the sale of 80 acres in Texas; approves a $10 million share repurchase program reflecting strong balance sheet confidence with approximately $75 million in cash; and launches a 550,000 square foot greenhouse conversion at its Delta 2 facility in British Columbia to add 40 metric tons of annual cannabis production capacity, with CAD $10 million investment phased from November 2025 through early 2027 to support Canadian and international growth.
