Heineken N.V. (HEIA.AS) is a Netherlands-based multinational brewing company that brews, markets and sells beer, cider, soft drinks, wine, fruit wine, malt and non-alcoholic beverages across five regions including Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, Asia Pacific; the company operates over 165 breweries in more than 70 countries and employs approximately 85,000 people. Founded in 1864 by Gerard Adriaan Heineken and headquartered in Amsterdam, it maintains a premium portfolio of over 170 beer brands encompassing international premium lagers such as Heineken, Amstel and Heineken 0.0; regional favorites including Birra Moretti, Affligem, Dos Equis, Red Stripe, Tecate, Tiger, Sagres, Kingfisher and Bintang; specialty and flavored beers like Desperados, Lagunitas and Edelweiss; ciders; and non-alcoholic options including Amstel Zero and Birell, alongside extensions such as Heineken Silver, draught formats, kegs and the BLADE system. Heineken ranks as the world's second-largest brewer by volume behind Anheuser-Busch InBev, holding leading positions in markets including the Netherlands, Austria, Greece and Italy. In recent developments, Heineken agreed in September 2025 to acquire beverage and retail businesses from Costa Rica's Florida Ice and Farm Company (FIFCO) for $3.2 billion in cash, including the remaining 75% of Distribuidora La Florida, full ownership of Heineken Panama and stakes in Nicaragua Brewing Holding and FIFCO's beer operations in Mexico, with the deal expected to close in the first half of 2026 and immediately enhance operating profit; the company also invested €45 million in a new R&D innovation center in the Netherlands, advanced its productivity program targeting at least €400 million in gross savings for 2025, and executed share buyback programs including over 3.4 million shares repurchased by October 2025 and nearly 7.8 million by November 2025.
