Business
Vera Bradley, Inc. (VRA) designs, manufactures and markets women's handbags, luggage, travel accessories, fashion accessories and home products featuring distinctive patterns and vibrant colors. The company offers core products including shoulder bags, totes, satchels, backpacks, crossbody bags, wallets and small accessories; luggage and travel items such as wheeled duffels, carry-ons, packing cubes and garment bags; and home and fashion items like throws, pillows and scarves, sold through full-line and outlet retail stores, e-commerce sites, and indirect channels comprising independent retailers, department stores, specialty retailers and licensing partnerships. Vera Bradley operates primarily in the United States with a multi-channel distribution model encompassing Vera Bradley Direct (retail and digital) and Vera Bradley Indirect (wholesale and licensing); it manufactures products through third-party suppliers in Asia and distributes from facilities in Indiana. Founded in 1982 by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia R. Miller in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the company maintains headquarters at 12420 Stonebridge Road, Roanoke, Indiana. Recent strategic changes include the sale of all ownership interests in its Pura Vida subsidiary to Project Aster Acquisition, LLC for $1 million plus contingent payments in early 2025 to sharpen focus on the core Vera Bradley brand transformation; implementation of efficiency initiatives targeting at least $20 million in cost savings for fiscal 2025; approval of a new $30 million share repurchase program commencing December 2024 through 2027; expansion of heritage and classic product lines alongside reductions in higher-price assortments based on sales data and customer feedback; and development of new partnerships in the indirect channel including licensing collaborations and interest from brands like Urban Outfitters to broaden customer reach.
