The Company operates primarily in the United States, including its wireless network nationwide and fiber-based wireline operations across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, while its business operations serve multinational enterprise customers internationally. Verizon was formed in 2000 through the merger of Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp. and is headquartered in New York, New York. Key operating businesses include Verizon Wireless, Verizon Fios, Verizon Business, Visible, Tracfone Wireless and, following its 2026 acquisition, Frontier Communications Parent, Inc.
Recent strategic actions include the completion on January 20, 2026 of Verizon’s acquisition of Frontier Communications Parent, Inc., expanding the Company’s fiber broadband footprint across 31 states and Washington, D.C., and supporting its objective of extending fiber availability to approximately 40 million to 50 million premises over the medium term. Verizon also completed the acquisition of Starry Group Holdings, Inc. in January 2026, adding fixed-wireless broadband capabilities for multi-dwelling-unit properties in five U.S. markets. In 2025, the Company entered a commercial fiber arrangement with an affiliate of Tillman Global Holdings to increase fiber access beyond its historical wireline territory. Verizon renewed its long-term mobile virtual network operator arrangements with Comcast Corp. and Charter Communications Inc. in early 2026, continuing to support their Xfinity Mobile and Spectrum Mobile offerings. In June 2026, Verizon agreed to form a 50:50 joint venture with BT Group plc to combine their international enterprise wireline connectivity businesses, subject to regulatory approvals and an expected 2027 closing; the planned venture is intended to provide cloud-first, AI-ready and secure connectivity services to multinational customers in more than 180 countries. Verizon additionally introduced Verizon One, a converged nationwide mobility-and-broadband plan, and entered a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar agreement with Corning Inc. in September 2026 for more than 80 million miles of high-density optical fiber and connectivity solutions to support broadband expansion and AI-oriented data-center connectivity from 2027 through 2032.
