Business
Yara International ASA produces and markets nitrogen-based fertilizers and related industrial products. The company offers a range of crop nutrition solutions including urea, calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), ammonium nitrate (AN), nitrate-based fertilizers such as YaraMila and YaraLiva, urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) liquids, and specialized products like YaraVita micronutrients and biostimulants; it also provides digital farming services through Yara Crop Nutrition Advisor and precision agriculture tools. Yara operates production facilities, sales offices, and distribution networks across more than 60 countries, primarily in Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Africa, targeting farmers, distributors, and industrial customers in the agriculture and environmental solutions sectors. Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Oslo, Norway, Yara International ASA focuses on sustainable agriculture, low-emission energy solutions, and ammonia technologies as part of its strategy to support global food security and decarbonization. The company segments its business into Crop Nutrition, Production, and Digital Farming, with additional offerings in industrial nitrogen products for sectors like mining and chemical manufacturing. Yara maintains key subsidiaries worldwide, including Yara Brasil and Yara North America, and has no parent company as it operates independently on the Oslo Stock Exchange (YAR.OL). In recent developments, Yara announced a strategic partnership with Enova in 2024 to advance green ammonia production and received a NOK 3.5 billion grant for its Porsgrunn green ammonia plant, marking progress in low-carbon fertilizers; it also completed the acquisition of Mitex in Brazil in 2024 to expand its footprint in South American crop nutrition markets. The company launched new YaraVita foliar fertilizers tailored for row crops in 2025 and initiated a major expansion of its digital farming platform with AI-driven yield optimization tools. Furthermore, Yara reorganized its executive leadership in late 2024 to prioritize sustainability initiatives, including a shift toward renewable ammonia projects amid global energy transitions.
