AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE: AME) is a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, operating through two primary segments: Electronic Instruments, which provides advanced analytical, monitoring, testing, and calibration instruments; and Electromechanical, which supplies automation solutions, thermal management systems, specialty metals, electrical interconnects, precision motors, pumps, and engineered components. Core products and services encompass process control analyzers, aerospace and defense avionics and engine components, power instrumentation, heavy vehicle motors and blowers, materials analysis tools including ion mass spectrometers and electron probe microanalysis systems, 3D metrology and scanning devices via Creaform, healthcare communication systems through Rauland, oil and gas fuel analyzers and sample conditioning systems, ultra-precision machining, and laser-based projection and inspection technologies from Virtek; the company serves industrial, aerospace, medical, energy, transportation, and defense markets worldwide with over 150 sites across North America, Europe, Asia, and other regions. Founded in 1930 and headquartered in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, AMETEK has evolved through a strategy emphasizing operational excellence, new product development, market expansion, and strategic acquisitions, maintaining a presence in more than 30 countries. In recent developments, AMETEK completed the acquisition of FARO Technologies in July 2025 for approximately $920 million, enhancing its Ultra Precision Technologies Division with 3D measurement, imaging, and digital reality solutions for aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing applications; acquired Virtek Vision International in October 2024 to bolster laser projection and inspection capabilities integrated with Creaform; purchased Paragon Medical in late 2023 for highly engineered medical components; and added Kern Microtechnik in February 2025 for high-precision machining and optical inspection, reflecting ongoing expansion in precision technologies and high-growth sectors.
