The company operates through its wholly owned subsidiaries, including American Public University System (APUS), encompassing American Military University (AMU) and American Public University (APU), which offer nearly 100 degree programs and courses in fields such as homeland security, military studies, intelligence, criminal justice, technology, business administration, public health, liberal arts, and more; Hondros College of Nursing (HCN), delivering pre-licensure associate degree nursing (ADN), practical nursing (PN) diploma programs, and related health sciences education; and Rasmussen University (RU), providing nursing- and health sciences-focused postsecondary degrees, including on-campus and online options across multiple states. Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Charles Town, West Virginia, APEI targets adult learners worldwide with flexible, affordable, career-relevant education delivered via online platforms, campus-based instruction, and workplace training, emphasizing service-minded communities.
