Business
Ardmore Shipping Corporation engages in the ownership and operation of a modern fleet of mid-size product and chemical tankers globally. The company’s core products and services include seaborne transportation of refined petroleum products and chemicals utilizing an advanced fleet of approximately 27 vessels, comprising 21 Medium Range (MR) tankers ranging from 45,000 to 50,200 deadweight tons (dwt) and six IMO 2 product/chemical tankers ranging from 25,000 to 37,800 dwt. Ardmore's fleet, predominantly Korean-built, emphasizes eco-design and fuel efficiency, serving oil majors, national oil companies, oil and chemical traders, and chemical companies worldwide. Services are primarily provided through voyage charters and time charters, supported by key commercial and technical management partnerships. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Ardmore Shipping continuously pursues fleet modernization and operational efficiency improvements. In the last two years, the company has executed several major changes including the acquisition of three modern Korean-built MR tankers for $103.9 million completed in 2025, reducing average fleet age and enhancing fuel efficiency while maintaining modest leverage. Ardmore also fully redeemed its Series A Preferred Stock for $30.6 million in late 2025 and secured a $350 million revolving credit facility priced at SOFR +1.80%, maturing in 2031. It has expanded fixed-rate time charters, including a two-year charter for one MR tanker and a three-year chemical tanker charter, reflecting a strategic shift toward revenue stability amid market volatility. Ardmore Shipping is actively implementing technological advancements, such as deploying SteelCorr AI for enhanced vessel corrosion monitoring and paint maintenance, and embracing sustainability through investments in energy-efficient technologies including carbon-capture ready scrubbers on select vessels. The company’s strategy focuses on developing a high-quality, fuel-efficient fleet, building durable commercial relationships, maintaining cost advantages across assets and operations, and pursuing synergies and scale economies as it grows in the global product and chemical tanker industry. This comprehensive approach enables Ardmore to serve the global transportation needs of refined petroleum products and chemicals with a modern, efficient, and well-managed fleet designed to capitalize on current spot and fixed charter market opportunities while advancing sustainability initiatives in line with industry trends and regulatory expectations.
