Business
Atlanticus Holdings Corporation (ATLC), a financial technology company founded in 1996 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, provides credit and related financial services and products to everyday consumers and lenders in the United States, focusing on the financially underserved market through its two primary segments: Credit as a Service (CaaS) and Auto Finance. The CaaS segment offers private-label credit products in healthcare under the Curae brand; consumer electronics, furniture, elective medical procedures, and home-improvement under the Fortiva brand and retail partners' brands; general-purpose credit cards under the Aspire, Imagine, and Fortiva brand names originated via bank partners through retail and healthcare point-of-sale, direct mail, digital marketing, and third-party partnerships; and loan servicing including risk management, customer service outsourcing, product testing, and investments. The Auto Finance segment purchases and services automobile-secured loans from independent automotive dealers and finance companies in the buy-here-pay-here used car business, while also providing floor plan financing and installment lending products. In September 2025, Atlanticus acquired Mercury Financial LLC for approximately $166.5 million in cash, adding Mercury as a wholly-owned subsidiary with $3.2 billion in credit card receivables, 1.3 million accounts, and a near-prime consumer credit card platform that complements its general-purpose offerings, expands capabilities into larger market segments, boosts total managed receivables above $6 billion, and supports portfolio optimization, cost synergies, and growth through new marketing channels and product expansions.
