Business
Molibdenos y Metales S.A. (Molymet) is a Chile-based multinational metallurgical company engaged in the processing, refining, and commercialization of molybdenum and rhenium products for industrial, chemical, and high-technology applications worldwide. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in San Bernardo, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile, the company operates as the world's leading processor of molybdenum and rhenium concentrates, supplying intermediate and finished metallurgical solutions to the steel, aerospace, energy, petrochemical, automotive, and electronics industries. The company's operations encompass custom toll roasting, chemical synthesis, metal extraction, and by-product valorization through an integrated global processing network. Molymet categorizes its commercial offerings into several core product and service lines: Molybdenum Products, comprising technical grade molybdenum oxide in powder and briquette formats, ferromolybdenum, pure molybdenum trioxide, ammonium dimolybdate (ADM), ammonium heptamolybdate (AHM), sodium molybdate, and high-purity molybdenum metal powder; Rhenium Products, comprising ammonium perrhenate (APR), perrhenic acid, and ultra-pure rhenium metal pellets and powders utilized in high-temperature superalloys for aviation turbines and petroleum reforming catalysts; By-Products and Industrial Chemicals, including commercial-grade sulfuric acid, copper cathodes, copper precipitates, and specialized industrial salts generated during gas washing and effluent neutralization processes; and Metallurgical and Toll Processing Services, providing industrial roasting, concentrate conversion, customized chemical synthesis, and metal reclamation from spent catalyst waste. Molymet conducts its manufacturing and distribution activities internationally through major production subsidiaries and plants, including MolymetNos in Chile, Molymex S.A. de C.V. in Mexico, Sadaci N.V. in Belgium, and Chemiemetall GmbH in Germany, supported by commercial representative offices across North America, Europe, and Asia. In recent operational and strategic developments, Molymet has accelerated its strategic transition toward circular economy and sustainable metallurgy by expanding secondary metal recycling capacity to recover critical metals from industrial scrap and spent petrochemical catalysts; executing plant modernization and environmental efficiency upgrades at its MolymetNos and Sadaci roasting facilities to reduce particulate emissions and maximize water recirculation; and issuing sustainability-linked bonds and credit facilities in the capital markets to finance decarbonization initiatives, energy efficiency programs, and renewable power supply integration across its global operations.
