Business
Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji A.S. is a Turkey-based pure-play renewable energy company engaged in the development, generation, trading, and wholesale of electricity derived exclusively from clean and renewable energy sources. The company owns and operates a diversified portfolio of generation assets, with core products and services structured across: hydroelectric power plants (HEPP); onshore wind power plants (WPP); ground-mounted solar photovoltaic power plants (SPP); hybrid solar installations co-located at existing wind and hydro sites; wholesale electricity trading and supply to commercial and industrial consumers; portfolio balancing and grid ancillary services; and the issuance and commercialization of environmental commodities, including International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC), YEK-G certificates, and voluntary carbon offset credits registered under Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Gold Standard mechanisms. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey, the company operates as a key subsidiary of Akfen Holding A.S. and manages power production assets strategically distributed across the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and Black Sea regions. In recent operational and strategic developments, the company completed its initial public offering on Borsa Istanbul (BIST: AKFYE), executed substantial capacity expansion programs focused on commissioning hybrid solar power generation units integrated into operational wind farms, secured regulatory pre-licenses from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) for electricity storage-integrated wind and solar generation facilities, and established long-term sustainability-linked loan agreements and refinancing facilities with domestic and international financial institutions to finance its ongoing asset expansion pipeline targeting over one gigawatt of total installed renewable capacity.
