- Bor Şeker A.Ş. is a Turkey-based agribusiness and food manufacturing company primarily engaged in the processing of sugar beets and the production and distribution of refined crystal sugar, agricultural by-products, and agricultural inputs. Established in 1983 as the Niğde Bor Sugar Factory under state-owned Türkiye Şeker Fabrikaları A.Ş. and privatized in 2018 through its acquisition by DSL Yatırım ve Danışmanlık A.Ş., the company is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey, with core manufacturing, processing, and warehousing operations situated in Bor, Niğde. Bor Şeker serves a broad client base that includes retail consumers, commercial food service providers, industrial food and beverage manufacturers, livestock enterprises, and contracted agricultural producers across regional and national markets in Turkey.
The company's primary products and commercial offerings comprise: refined sugar products, including granulated crystal sugar, cube sugar, and single-portion stick sugar packaged for retail, wholesale, and industrial food production; agro-industrial by-products, consisting of sugar beet molasses used in yeast and alcohol fermentation, as well as fresh beet pulp and packaged, pelleted dried beet pulp for livestock feed; agricultural inputs and fertilizers, including nitrogen-, phosphorus-, and potassium-based chemical and mineral fertilizers, certified agricultural seeds, and contracted farming management services; and captive utility generation, including electricity and steam production derived from on-site cogeneration and solar facilities.
In recent major developments, Bor Şeker completed its initial public offering on Borsa Istanbul in February 2024 under the ticker BORSK, raising approximately 1.86 billion Turkish Lira to finance facility modernizations, renewable energy installations, working capital, and research and development initiatives. In line with its sustainability and cost-efficiency roadmap, the company initiated a 2.05 million US dollar investment in a 3-megawatt on-site solar photovoltaic power plant at its Niğde manufacturing complex. Bor Şeker has also undertaken substantial capacity expansion programs, elevating daily beet processing throughput toward 10,000 tons per day, while securing environmental impact approvals to diversify into value-added segments, including industrial ethyl alcohol distillation and a dedicated chocolate, wafer, and confectionery bar manufacturing facility. Additionally, the company expanded its industrial presence through equity acquisitions involving Adapazarı Şeker Fabrikası A.Ş. and raised its registered capital ceiling to 4.8 billion Turkish Lira to facilitate ongoing operational and strategic expansion.
