Business
Karel Elektronik Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. operates as a technology company primarily engaged in telecommunications, electronics, and defense sectors. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Turkey, Karel develops, produces, and sells a wide range of communication systems including wired and wireless PBX phone systems for small, medium, and large enterprises; IP-based call center systems; analog, IP, wall, hotel, and feature phones; direct station select modules; operator phone headsets; and IP DECT systems. The company also manufactures military communication systems such as military field switchboards, communication gateways, ship-type telephone exchanges, ship alarm and announcement systems, naval platform training systems, handheld military computers, internal speech, and avionic solutions. Beyond telecommunications, Karel offers electronic manufacturing services spanning design to production, including electronic boards for household appliances and provides turnkey large-scale projects for public and private sectors. Its operations extend to cloud PBX, cloud call center solutions, IoT solutions, tactical switches, announcement and alarm systems, and inertial navigation systems. Recently, Karel has experienced significant strategic developments including partnerships with Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) to enhance modernization capabilities and contracts for supplying engine control systems and military stations to domestic and international defense clients. The company signed multiple agreements valued over 128.5 million Turkish Lira, including transmission systems supply contracts and maintenance service agreements with major telecom operators like Vodafone and Turkcell. Karel expanded its financial structure by issuing debt instruments and doubling its share capital via rights issues to support growth and operational needs. Leadership changes marked recent operational shifts, with appointments of a new CEO and CFO in 2025. These moves reflect Karel’s strategic focus on reinforcing its market presence in telecommunications infrastructure, defense communication technologies, and broadening its service offerings in Turkey and over 30 export markets. Karel’s core customer base encompasses telecommunication service providers, public and private institutions, and military organizations both domestically and internationally. The company is recognized as a leading innovator in technology, credited with product diversity and local secure communication solutions. As a subsidiary of Doğan Holding since mid-2022, Karel combines solid industry experience with advanced R&D capabilities to maintain market leadership in Turkey with exports to over 30 countries, covering Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Karel leverages its integrated business segments of communication technologies, defense technologies, field operation technologies, automotive technologies, electronic manufacturing services, and emerging technologies to deliver comprehensive solutions that support critical infrastructure and defense needs globally.
