- Katmerciler Arac Ustu Ekipman Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. designs, develops, manufactures, and exports on-vehicle superstructures, municipal equipment, and tactical defense and security vehicles. Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Izmir, Turkey, the company operates production plants and an accredited research and development center across facilities in Izmir and Ankara. Katmerciler serves municipal public works departments, commercial logistics operators, law enforcement agencies, and armed forces across more than 80 countries worldwide.
The company operates through two primary business segments: On-Vehicle Equipment and Defense Industry. The On-Vehicle Equipment segment manufactures nearly thirty certified superstructure variations, comprising firefighting and emergency rescue vehicles; environmental maintenance vehicles, including hydraulic garbage compactors, vacuum sewage trucks, hydro-jetting sewer cleaners, and mechanical road sweepers; transportation and distribution equipment, including potable water tankers, fuel tankers, dump bodies, tippers, hook loaders, and cargo carriers; and vehicle recovery and lifting machinery, including telescopic and articulated hydraulic aerial work platforms, auto recovery vehicles, and sliding bed transporters. The company integrates its commercial superstructures onto vehicle chassis supplied by major automotive manufacturers, including Ford Trucks, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Volvo, and Isuzu.
The Defense Industry segment develops wheeled armored combat vehicles, homeland security apparatus, and robotic systems. Key offerings include the HIZIR and HIZIR II 4x4 mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles; the KHAN 4x4 armored personnel carrier; the ATES armored border surveillance and reconnaissance vehicle; the KIRAC next-generation criminal investigation vehicle; the TOMA riot control vehicle; the UKAP remotely operated unmanned ground vehicle platform; armored logistics trucks; armored ambulances; and heavy-duty tank transporters.
In recent developments, Katmerciler has expanded its international footprint and strengthened its defense and municipal order pipeline. In July 2025, the company entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Malaysian defense company DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies (Deftech) to pursue joint defense vehicle opportunities in Southeast Asia. In May 2025, the company secured a USD 20.4 million supply contract with the Turkish Ministry of National Defence. These awards followed high-value export orders finalized in late 2024, consisting of a USD 10.5 million international municipal firefighting vehicle contract and a USD 3.8 million order for tank transport systems and spare parts. In corporate asset management and operational streamlining, the company completed the divestment of a factory facility and real estate asset in the Ankara Baskent Organized Industrial Zone for TRY 140 million in April 2024. Furthermore, Katmerciler established a dedicated Sustainability Committee and implemented corporate governance upgrades in alignment with Borsa Istanbul sustainability guidelines.
