Business
Tat Gida Sanayi A.S. is a Turkey-based food manufacturing company engaged in the production, processing, marketing, and distribution of tomato-based products, condiments, canned foods, pickles, and convenience meals. Founded in 1967 and headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey, the company operates primarily within the packaged food and agricultural processing sectors. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of shelf-stable food products, primarily marketed under the Tat brand name. Its core product lines include tomato and pepper products, comprising tomato paste, pepper paste, strained tomatoes, diced tomatoes, chopped tomatoes, and tomato puree; table sauces and condiments, comprising ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, barbecue sauce, burger sauce, hot pepper sauce, and specialized pasta sauces; canned vegetables and legumes, comprising green peas, sweet corn, green beans, boiled chickpeas, boiled beans, boiled lentils, and vegetable garnishes; pickled goods, comprising pickled cucumbers, pickled peppers, and mixed vegetable pickles; ready-to-eat meals and convenience foods, comprising pre-cooked traditional meals, stuffed grape leaves, grain dishes, legume bowls, and ambient prepared soups; and sweet spreads, comprising fruit jams and marmalades. Tat Gida serves domestic retail chains, independent supermarkets, wholesalers, and food service (HORECA) operators across Turkey, while exporting its products to more than 30 countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. The company conducts its manufacturing operations through integrated production facilities located in Turkey's primary agricultural regions, including processing plants in Mustafakemalpaşa and Karacabey in the Bursa province, and Torbalı in the İzmir province. Tat Gida supports its raw material sourcing through an extensive contract farming network, utilizing digital agriculture systems, precision irrigation, and satellite monitoring to manage crop quality, traceability, and agricultural sustainability. In recent major corporate developments, the company completed a significant ownership transition in early 2024, when Koç Holding A.S. and affiliated Koç Group shareholders finalized the sale of their 49.04% controlling stake in Tat Gida Sanayi A.S. to Memisoglu Tarim Urunleri Ticaret Limited Sirketi, a leading Turkish pulses and grains agribusiness group. Following the transaction, Tat Gida has undertaken executive management and board reorganizations to leverage commercial and supply-chain synergies with Memisoglu Tarim, including expanding shared distribution capabilities and broadening raw material procurement networks. Building on earlier strategic divestitures of its non-core dairy and pasta business lines, the company continues to execute a focused strategy centered on high-margin condiments, clean-label tomato products, and value-added ready-to-eat meal solutions, supported by continuous capital investments in production automation, sustainable packaging, and export market expansion.
