Business
Prudential Sugar Corporation Limited principally engages in the manufacture and sale of white crystal sugar. The company operates a fully integrated manufacturing facility located in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, with an installed capacity of 2,500 tons crushed per day (TCD). In addition to white crystal sugar, Prudential Sugar produces and markets by-products such as molasses and bagasse, which it sells to distilleries and co-generation power plants respectively. The company's sugar is distributed primarily to traders in the southern Indian states of Telangana, Karnataka, and other regions. Established in 1990, Prudential Sugar is headquartered in Hyderabad, India. Recently, Prudential Sugar Corporation has made a strategic expansion by entering the electric vehicle components sector. In 2025, the company approved a Rs 53.1 crore investment to acquire a 76% stake in Senatla EV Products Private Limited and its holding company, marking a diversification from its traditional sugar business into manufacturing and sales of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers components. Furthermore, Prudential Sugar has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Failte Ventures Group of Ireland to set up a solar power plant facility in India, reflecting its broader strategic initiatives in renewable energy and sustainable operations. The company’s core business segments remain centered on sugar manufacturing and related agribusiness products while pursuing growth opportunities in agri-based and renewable energy sectors. Prudential Sugar's operations span across India with a focus on the southern states, supported by its manufacturing unit. The company's recent strategic investments indicate a shift towards diversification beyond its sugar production legacy, aligning with evolving market trends and sustainability imperatives. Prudential Sugar Corporation Limited remains a notable player within India's sugar industry with an expanding footprint in emerging energy and electric mobility sectors.
