Established in 1970 as a partnership firm and converted to a public limited company in 1980 with listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange in 1993, Simplex Castings maintains in-house capabilities for pattern making, heat treatment, machining with CNC equipment, testing, and design using CAD/CAM tools, holding certifications including ISO 9002, API, ASME, RDSO Class A for railways, ABS, AAR, and One Star Export House status. In recent developments, the company secured a Rs 4.30 crore order from the Ministry of Defence through Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in November 2025, underscoring its growing role in India's defense supply chain, highlighted by Managing Director Dr. Sangeeta Ketan Shah's participation in the MSME Defence Conclave 2025 in Bhopal. Simplex Castings allotted 278,614 equity shares at Rs 246 each to promoters in August 2025, raising Rs 6.85 crore, following preferential allotment approval of 297,248 shares for Rs 7.31 crore, strengthening its capital structure with overall gearing improving to 1.36x as of March 31, 2025, supported by Rs 10.67 crore share capital infusion and profit accretion. Financial performance strengthened in FY25 with total operating income rising 40% to Rs 172.03 crore, PBILDT margin expanding to 18.44% from 11.48%, and net profit reaching Rs 15.13 crore, driven by 26% volume growth, better realizations, and cost efficiencies from outsourcing smaller components; Q1FY26 sales hit Rs 45.25 crore with 20.33% PBILDT margin, while September 2025 quarterly net sales grew 88% to Rs 55.41 crore and net profit rose 53% to Rs 5.58 crore. Earlier, in 2019, the company sold its Urla steel castings foundry to Texmaco Rail and Engineering for Rs 87.50 crore and incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, Simplex Castings International Pte Ltd, in Singapore in 2018. CARE Ratings downgraded long-term facilities to CARE C (Stable) in August 2025 due to a minor delay in non-rated debt servicing, though rated debt remained current, with working capital limits reduced to Rs 50 crore.
