Founded in 1856 and headquartered at York House in London, the company owns or manages a portfolio valued at £13.0 billion (British Land share: £8.7 billion as of 31 March 2024), concentrated in office-led campuses in Central London such as Broadgate, Paddington Central and Regent's Place; retail parks and shopping centres across the UK including sites in Didcot, Merthyr Tydfil, Andover, Kilmarnock, Bangor and Salisbury; and London urban logistics assets serving central London with low-carbon delivery hubs. It generates revenue primarily through rental income from leasing to major retailers like Tesco, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, Asda and essential multi-channel operators, alongside development activities, asset management services and joint ventures that enhance income-producing properties (89% of portfolio) and development opportunities (11%).
