- Grupo Energía Bogotá S.A. E.S.P. is a Colombia-based energy holding group engaged in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power, as well as the transportation and distribution of natural gas across Latin America. Founded in 1896 and headquartered in Bogotá, Colombia, the company operates across the energy value chain with a strategic footprint spanning Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Guatemala. The group manages its operations through specialized subsidiaries, affiliated companies, and joint ventures, serving residential, commercial, industrial, and wholesale energy markets throughout the region.
The company organizes its business into four principal operational segments: Electric Power Transmission, Electric Power Generation and Distribution, Natural Gas Transportation, and Natural Gas Distribution. Its core products and services include high-voltage electric power transmission services, encompassing the engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines and electrical substations; electricity generation from renewable and conventional sources, comprising hydroelectric power plants, utility-scale photovoltaic solar parks, and thermal generation assets operated primarily through its partnership in Enel Colombia; regulated and non-regulated electric power distribution and retail commercialization; natural gas transportation through an extensive high-pressure pipeline network, compression facilities, and gas measurement stations managed by its subsidiary Transportadora de Gas Internacional (TGI S.A. E.S.P.); urban and regional natural gas distribution and commercialization for residential, commercial, industrial, vehicular natural gas (VNG), and thermal power generation clients through its Peruvian subsidiaries Gas Natural de Lima y Callao S.A. (Cálidda) and Contugas S.A.C.; and grid connection infrastructure, technical advisory, and energy reliability solutions.
In recent strategic and operational developments, Grupo Energía Bogotá S.A. E.S.P. has actively advanced its corporate strategic plan focused on regional expansion, energy transition, and grid decarbonization. The company has consolidated and expanded its power transmission asset portfolio in Brazil through its co-controlled platform Argo Energía, integrating newly acquired operational concessions and expanding high-voltage networks in partnership with international institutional investors. In Colombia, the group continues the strategic execution and reinforcement of major transmission projects, notably the Colectora transmission corridor and associated substations, aimed at connecting large-scale non-conventional renewable energy projects in the La Guajira region to the national grid. The group has also expanded its natural gas distribution coverage in Peru, achieving record residential connection milestones under Cálidda, and executed sustainable and social financing transactions, including green bond issuances and ESG-linked credit facilities, to fund transmission modernization, renewable energy integration, and emissions reduction programs across its regional operating footprint.
