Founded in 1867 and headquartered in Akron, Ohio, the company offers supercritical, ultra-supercritical, and subcritical boilers; waste-to-energy, biomass, fluidized-bed, and process recovery boilers; heat recovery steam generators; flue gas desulfurization systems; electrostatic precipitators; fabric filters; selective catalytic and non-catalytic NOx reduction systems; burners; pulverizers; ash handling systems; sootblowers; combustion diagnostics; and proprietary technologies including BrightLoop hydrogen generation and carbon capture, ClimateBright decarbonization platform, and AI data center power solutions using natural gas steam generation. It operates through segments such as B&W Renewable, Thermal, and Environmental, serving customers in North America, Europe, Asia, and other regions with engineering, construction, maintenance, parts, upgrades, and field services. In recent developments, Babcock & Wilcox signed a limited notice to proceed in November 2025 for a $1.5 billion contract with Applied Digital to design and install one gigawatt of natural gas-fueled power for an AI data center, expanding its AI data center pipeline beyond $3 billion and total global opportunities over $10 billion. The company raised $67.5 million through an at-the-market equity offering in November 2025, announced the full redemption of its $26 million 8.125% senior notes due 2026, and sold its Allen-Sherman-Hoff ash handling business to ANDRITZ for $29 million. Additional 2025 activities include a $17 million contract for U.S. power plant refurbishment awarded to its construction subsidiary, progression of BrightLoop hydrogen projects in multiple U.S. states, and presentation at the B. Riley Convergence Conference on AI, blockchain, and energy.
