Business
Broadway Financial Corporation Broadway Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: BYFC) operates as the holding company for City First Bank, National Association, a mission-driven commercial bank that provides banking products and services primarily to low- and moderate-income communities and organizations with limited access to traditional finance in the United States. City First Bank offers deposit products including savings accounts, checking accounts, interest checking accounts, money market accounts, and fixed-term certificates of deposit; lending products such as mortgage loans secured by multi-family residential properties, single-family residential properties, and commercial real estate including charter schools, community facilities, and churches, as well as commercial business loans, Small Business Administration-guaranteed loans, construction-to-permanent loans, consumer loans, and community development loans; and additional services encompassing online and mobile banking with features like mobile check deposit, bill payment, fund transfers, and digital statements, with access to over 60,000 ATMs through networks including City First, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Chase, Allpoint, and MoneyPass. The bank maintains branches in Washington, DC, and Los Angeles, California, where it is headquartered at 4601 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 150, with 95% of lending concentrated within Los Angeles County and a focus on urban communities, supporting mission-aligned businesses, nonprofits, and affordable housing developers as a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that deploys at least 60% of lending into targeted areas. Founded in 1946, the company completed a transformational merger with CFBanc Corporation and City First Bank of D.C. in April 2021, creating the largest Black-led minority depository institution in the U.S. with bicoastal operations under the CityFirstBroadway tradename, and has since reported recent operational enhancements including total deposit growth of 7.2% to support expanded lending, a 64.6% reduction in borrowings to $69.2 million as of mid-2025, net interest margin expansion to 2.70% in Q1 2025 from improved cost of funds, gross loans increase of 10% to $977.0 million in 2024, and expansion of its Board of Directors to ten members following a new appointment in 2025.
