The company conducts its Canadian telecommunications segment via Cogeco Connexion and oxio brands in Quebec and Ontario, while its U.S. operations under the Breezeline brand (formerly Atlantic Broadband) span 13 states including Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia; founded in 1957 and headquartered at 1 Place Ville-Marie in Montreal, Quebec, Cogeco Communications functions as a subsidiary of Cogeco Inc., ranking as the eighth-largest hybrid fibre coaxial cable operator in North America with annual revenue exceeding $3 billion and around 4,700 employees. Recent strategic developments include the February 2024 acquisition of Niagara Regional Broadband Network by Cogeco Connexion to bolster its Niagara Region footprint with the City of Niagara Falls and Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake retaining minority stakes, a December 2023 transaction enabling CDPQ to acquire Rogers Communications' full holdings in Cogeco Communications for approximately $350 million while the company repurchased $117 million of its subordinate voting shares, and August 2024 announcements of five-year partnerships with a national Canadian wireless network operator for MVNO access and Eastlink for wireless technology platforms including business support systems and core network to launch capital-light mobility services targeting over 4.2 million customers in its Ontario and Quebec cable footprint; ongoing initiatives feature fibre-to-the-home network expansions, growth-oriented capital expenditures of $565 million to $605 million projected for fiscal 2026 with $100 million to $140 million allocated to new markets, and enhanced wireless scaling in Canada alongside operational efficiencies and digitization efforts.
