Canadian Utilities Limited, a subsidiary of ATCO Ltd, engages in the electricity, natural gas, pipelines, renewables, energy storage, and liquids businesses primarily in Canada, Australia, and select international markets including the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Mexico, and Chile. The company operates through key segments including ATCO Energy Systems, which provides regulated electricity transmission and distribution services in northern and central east Alberta, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Lloydminster area of Saskatchewan, as well as integrated natural gas transmission and distribution throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan; ATCO EnPower, which develops electricity generation from solar, wind, and hydro sources, natural gas storage, industrial water solutions, clean fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, and related infrastructure; ATCO Australia, which delivers regulated natural gas distribution in Western Australia and electricity generation; and Retail Energy, which offers electricity and natural gas retail sales along with whole-home solutions to residential, commercial, and industrial customers mainly in Alberta. Founded in 1927 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, at 5302 Forand Street South West, Canadian Utilities serves over three million customers across hundreds of communities with approximately 5,300 employees and $23 billion in assets. In recent developments, the company invested $402 million in capital expenditures during the third quarter of 2025, with 95% allocated to regulated utilities in ATCO Energy Systems and ATCO Australia, and the remainder primarily to ATCO EnPower; it continues advancing major infrastructure projects such as the $2.8 billion Yellowhead Pipeline in natural gas transmission, with construction slated to begin in 2026 pending regulatory approvals, and the Central East Transfer-Out Project in electricity transmission, while progressing stakeholder consultations, Indigenous equity partnerships, land acquisitions, and long-lead materials procurement.
