Cosan S.A. Cosan S.A. is a Brazilian holding company that invests in and manages leading platforms across energy, oil and gas, logistics, and agribusiness sectors. The company oversees Raízen, a joint venture with Shell that produces and markets sugarcane-derived products including raw sugar, anhydrous and hydrated ethanol, and bioenergy from 35 complexes with 105 million tons annual crushing capacity and 3 billion liters of ethanol production; Compass, which distributes natural gas through Comgás—the largest distributor in Brazil—and Commit, a Mitsui partnership holding stakes in over 11 gas distributors, alongside marketing services via Edge encompassing TRSP assets, biomethane, and B2B LNG; Rumo, the largest private freight railroad operator managing 13,500 kilometers of track across nine Brazilian states with 1,400 locomotives and 35,000 wagons serving agricultural export corridors; Moove, a global lubricants producer and distributor of Mobil-branded products in the Americas and Europe, Comma lubricants from its UK plant, and own-brand items across 40+ countries in Europe and Asia including greases, fluids, specialty products, and base oils from six plants; and Radar, which manages approximately 306,000 hectares of agricultural land in eight Brazilian states. Cosan S.A. operates primarily in Brazil with international reach in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia, targeting industrial, commercial, residential, automotive, and agribusiness customers. Founded in 1936 through the acquisition of a sugarcane mill in Piracicaba, São Paulo, the company is headquartered at Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima 4100 in São Paulo. Recent developments include a September 2025 strategic partnership and capitalization plan with Aguassanta, BTG Pactual, and Perfin Infra via public offerings up to R$10 billion to strengthen its balance sheet and reduce debt, formation of Vertiz Holding S.A. in November 2025 consolidating over 53% controlling stake, executive changes with André Santos Esteves as board vice chairman effective November 19, 2025 and Rafael Bergman as CFO from December 5, 2025, Moove's September 2024 acquisition of DIPI Holdings Ltda., and asset optimization such as divesting nine farms in 2024 for R$1 billion.
