Business
Clearway Energy, Inc. Clearway Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CWEN, CWEN.A) owns and operates one of the largest portfolios of clean energy generation assets in the United States, comprising approximately 12 GW of gross capacity across 27 states, including 9.2 GW of wind, solar, and battery energy storage assets as well as over 2.8 GW of dispatchable natural gas-fired power generation that provides critical grid reliability services; the company manages more than 350 operating projects in 35 states, delivering reliable electricity primarily under long-term contracts to utilities, corporations, governments, and other wholesale and retail customers. Headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, Clearway Energy focuses on utility-scale wind and solar facilities, community solar and distributed energy projects, battery storage systems, and efficient natural gas plants, with in-house capabilities spanning origination, project development, engineering procurement and construction management, capital markets financing exceeding $22 billion for its projects, and commercial operations including asset management and maintenance. Clearway Energy Group, owned by Global Infrastructure Partners and TotalEnergies, holds a controlling interest and acts as the sponsor, developing renewable projects tailored for acquisition by Clearway Energy and providing operational and administrative support. Recent developments include bringing online the Rosamond South Energy Center, Luna Valley, and Daggett Energy Centers in California; signing a power purchase agreement and energy storage agreement totaling 520 MW with the Public Utility District of Grant County; entering a binding agreement in October 2025 to acquire a 613 MWac solar portfolio spanning eight states, primarily in CAISO and PJM markets, for $210-230 million in a transaction closing by Q2 2026 that involves a 50/50 joint venture with Fengate Asset Management for 227 MWac of Western U.S. assets; and agreeing in November 2024 to acquire a 137 MW wind project serving Turlock Irrigation District, expected to close in Q1 2025 with $70-75 million in capital commitment and adding approximately $9 million in annual levered asset cash available for distribution on a five-year average basis starting 2026. These acquisitions and project completions enhance Clearway Energy's presence in high-value markets like California and the Western U.S., support battery hybridization and contract extensions for asset value uplift, and position the company to achieve the upper end of its 2027 cash available for distribution per share target range of $2.50-$2.70 through diversified growth pathways.
