Business
Rogers Communications Inc. is a diversified Canadian communications and media company that provides wireless, cable, and media services to consumers and businesses nationwide. Founded in 1960 and headquartered at 333 Bloor Street East in Toronto, Ontario, the company operates primarily in three segments: wireless telecommunications through Rogers Wireless, Fido, and Chatr brands offering mobile internet access, voice services, device financing, protection, global roaming, and 5G+ network connectivity; cable operations including high-speed internet, television, video streaming via Rogers Xfinity TV and Ignite TV, home phone, smart home monitoring, and network connectivity via fiber backbone and data centers; and media properties encompassing radio and television broadcasting, sports media such as Hockey Night in Canada, specialty TV channels, digital media, and ownership stakes in the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Centre. Rogers maintains extensive geographic operations across Canada with over 80,000 km of fiber backbone extending to key U.S. and global locations, serving individual consumers, enterprises, and wholesale clients with reliable uptime and scalable services up to 100 Gbps. Recent developments include the June 2025 closure of a C$7 billion equity investment from Blackstone funds into a subsidiary holding a minor portion of its wireless backhaul infrastructure, enabling debt reduction while retaining full operational control; the July 2025 launch of Canada's first satellite-to-mobile text messaging service via partnerships with SpaceX and Lynk Global, covering 5.4 million square kilometers; an August 2025 agreement to divest its data centers business to InfraRed Capital Partners, expected to complete by year-end; and a July 2025 acquisition of a 37.5% equity interest in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment for C$4.7 billion.
