Business
The Dixie Group, Inc. (DXYN) manufactures, markets, and distributes premium floorcovering products, including broadloom carpets, custom rugs, and luxury vinyl flooring, primarily targeting high-end residential and select commercial customers across North America. The company offers specialty carpets and rugs under the Fabrica brand for interior designers, luxury home builders, and manufacturers of high-end motor coaches and yachts; broadloom carpets, specialty rugs, and luxury vinyl products under the Masland Residential brand through interior design channels and specialty retailers; tufted broadloom carpets and rugs under the DH Floors and private label brands for retailers and home centers; and durable luxury vinyl flooring under the Trucor brand featuring rigid core construction with realistic wood and stone visuals for residential and light commercial applications. Founded in 1920 as the Dixie Mercerizing Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and headquartered in Dalton, Georgia, the company operates manufacturing facilities in the Southeastern United States and focuses on differentiated, higher-margin products through in-house design, tufting, dyeing, and finishing processes, with distribution via regional warehouses, retailers, and direct sales representatives. In recent years, The Dixie Group has pursued strategic restructuring, including divestitures of non-core assets such as its yarn business in 2017, manufacturing consolidations, and a sharpened emphasis on residential floorcoverings, which comprise the majority of sales; this follows the 2014 acquisition of Atlas Carpet Mills for commercial expansion and earlier purchases of Masland Carpets (1993), Fabrica International (2000), and others that built its premium brand portfolio. The company secured a new $75 million credit facility from Fifth Third Bank in early 2025 to enhance working capital, replace prior financing, and support operational stability amid market challenges and inventory needs. These initiatives reflect ongoing adaptation to industry headwinds, including housing market softness and raw material volatility, while maintaining leadership in style-driven, performance-oriented floorcoverings.
