Business
Epiroc AB (publ) is a Swedish industrial machinery company specializing in the development, manufacturing, and provision of innovative and safe equipment and services for the mining, infrastructure, and natural resources industries. Its core product portfolio includes drill rigs for surface and underground applications; rock excavation and construction equipment such as loaders, trucks, and excavator attachments; raise boring equipment; rock drilling tools; rock reinforcement solutions; underground ventilation systems; and hydraulic attachments. The company also offers comprehensive aftermarket services including replacement parts, service agreements, audits, circular services such as midlife and remanufacturing solutions, custom-engineered service solutions, training, and digital solutions that support automation, connectivity, collision prevention, and fleet management. Epiroc’s digital and automation offerings have expanded to include electrification solutions such as battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) with advanced thermal management and trolley-electric equipment, as well as mixed-fleet automation products supporting driverless machines in mining operations. Founded in 2018 after being spun off from Atlas Copco, Epiroc is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and operates globally with manufacturing facilities in Sweden, the United States, Canada, Australia, China, India, Japan, and Germany, serving customers in more than 150 countries. The company organizes operations into business areas focused on surface and underground equipment, parts and services, digital solutions, and tools and attachments. Recent major developments include a strategic organizational restructuring into two business areas to enhance operational efficiency and customer focus, effective since September 2025. Epiroc completed several acquisitions in 2024 and 2025, including Weco Proprietary Limited and acquiring the majority shares of ASI Mining, strengthening its market position and technology portfolio. The company continues to invest significantly in innovation, particularly advancing its leadership in automation, digitalization, and electrification technologies. In 2024, Epiroc reported record-high revenues supported by strong mining demand and acquisitions, with a notable increase in the deployment of driverless machines, exceeding 3,450 units in operation worldwide, reflecting strong market acceptance of its automation solutions. In 2025, Epiroc undertook efficiency measures including workforce adjustments and broke ground on a 29,000 m² global distribution center in Sweden, scheduled for inauguration in late 2027, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability with the facility featuring solar panels. Epiroc remains focused on providing sustainable, safe, and productive equipment and services that support efficient resource utilization and reduced environmental impact across the mining, construction, demolition, recycling, water, oil, and gas sectors worldwide. The company aims to drive long-term growth through technology leadership and strong customer partnerships.
