Founded in 1859 and headquartered in New York, New York, the company operates across segments including Individual Retirement, which offers variable annuities and related retirement income products; Group Retirement, providing tax-deferred investment and retirement services to educational, municipal, not-for-profit, and small-to-medium business plans; Asset Management, delivering diversified investment management, research, and related services via AllianceBernstein to institutions, retail investors, and private wealth clients worldwide with over $754 billion in assets under management; Protection Solutions, focusing on variable universal life insurance, indexed universal life insurance, and employee benefits for small and medium-sized businesses; Wealth Management, offering discretionary and non-discretionary advisory accounts, financial planning, insurance, and annuities through Equitable Advisors; and Legacy, managing capital-intensive fixed-rate guaranteed minimum benefits business written prior to 2011.
