Business
Hydrogène de France S.A. (HDF Energy) develops large-scale green hydrogen infrastructure and manufactures high-power multi-megawatt fuel cells that generate electricity from hydrogen to support decarbonization in power generation, heavy maritime, and rail mobility sectors; it operates Renewstable power plants, which deliver non-intermittent baseload renewable electricity by integrating intermittent solar or wind sources with on-site green hydrogen storage; and it provides engineering services for hydrogen projects, including project management assistance and development work. The company, founded in 2012 and headquartered in Lormont near Bordeaux, France, employs around 125 people and maintains regional offices in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Oceania to advance a portfolio of over 17 advanced projects valued at more than €3 billion in total investment. In recent developments, HDF Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2025 with the Philippines' Department of Transportation and Mindanao Development Authority to deploy up to 15 Renewstable power plants representing USD 1.5 billion in investment, following a prior 2024 agreement with the Department of Energy; it entered a June 2025 tripartite financing agreement with Indonesia's PLN and PT SMI, witnessed by the presidents of Indonesia and France, to support 23 Renewstable projects worth over USD 2.3 billion; progressed industrial plans approved by the European Commission in May 2024 under IPCEI for high-power fuel cell mass production starting in 2025 at a Bordeaux-area facility, with Bpifrance financing nearing finalization; and confirmed in September 2025 half-year results showing stable project pipelines, including advancements for Renewstable Barbados, Sumba in Indonesia, and Guyana's CEOG plant commissioning mid-2026.
