Business
RHI Magnesita N.V. (RHIM.L) manufactures and supplies high-grade refractory products, systems and solutions for high-temperature industrial processes exceeding 1,200 degrees Celsius, primarily serving the steel, cement, glass, non-ferrous metals, lime, foundry, environment-energy-chemistry, paper & pulp and raw materials sectors. The company offers over 120,000 products made from magnesite and dolomite, including bricks, lining mixes, flow control products such as slide gates, nozzles and plugs, monolithics, alumina portfolios, mortars, magnesia spinel, dolomite-magnesia, magnesia-chrome, high alumina and alumina silicate materials; it also provides customized refractory services, installation, maintenance, performance-based solutions, recycling facilities and refractory application machinery through brands like 4PRO and vertically integrated operations from raw material extraction to full-service delivery. Founded in 1834 and headquartered in Vienna, Austria, RHI Magnesita operates over 65 main production sites including raw material facilities, 12 recycling plants, technology centers in locations such as Austria, Brazil, China and the United States, and more than 70 sales offices across 40 countries with a local-for-local production strategy employing over 20,000 people worldwide. In January 2025, the company completed its largest acquisition since the 2017 RHI-Magnesita merger by purchasing the US-based Resco Group for an enterprise value of approximately 390 million euros to expand North American manufacturing capacity, enhance local-for-local production in petrochemical, cement and aluminium markets, improve supply chain security, reduce lead times and generate synergies through network optimization and technology transfer. Recent developments include a strategic joint venture with BPI Inc. to accelerate circular economy initiatives in North America, a partnership with Polytec USA Corp. for digital transformation, the launch of the EU-backed RAPTOR recycling system in November 2025 to boost sustainability and competitiveness, achievement of a top 5% global EcoVadis ESG rating, and the appointment of Alexander Ordosch as Head of Investor Relations.
