Business
Cordoba Minerals Corp. is a mineral exploration and development company focused on copper-gold projects in Colombia and the United States. The company holds interests in the Alacran Project in Córdoba, Colombia, a copper-gold-silver development comprising approximately 20,000 hectares including the Alacran deposit and satellite deposits at Alacran North, Montiel East, Montiel West, and Costa Azul; and the Perseverance Project in Arizona, USA, a 13,000-acre porphyry copper exploration property where Cordoba maintains a 51% interest and is earning up to 80% by April 2026 through expenditures of C$14.2 million. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, the company operates primarily in the base and precious metals sector, targeting porphyry copper-gold belts with exploration, drilling, feasibility studies, and permitting activities; it released a Feasibility Study for the Alacran Project in December 2023 outlining 14.2-year mine life, 797 million pounds of copper, 550,000 ounces of gold, and 5.35 million ounces of silver over the life of mine, supported by dual processing plants with 21,200 tonnes per day throughput. Recent developments include a May 2023 strategic alliance with JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd. closing on US$100 million for joint development of Alacran, with JCHX acquiring 50% interest through installments and right of first offer on engineering contracts; completion of JCHX's 50% earn-in in July 2025; entry into a definitive framework agreement in May 2025 to sell Cordoba's remaining 50% interest in Alacran to affiliates of JCHX and Veritas Resources AG via subsidiary sales; filing and mailing of special meeting materials in September 2025 for shareholder approval of the proposed sale; and US$10 million bridge financing from JCHX affiliates in December 2024. Cordoba Minerals is a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Electric Inc. and maintains offices in Vancouver and Medellín, Colombia, with ongoing exploration supported by cornerstone investors Ivanhoe Electric Ltd. and JCHX.
